How are fee refunds and additional applicable fees collected before the permit is issued?

  • Fee Refunds - SolarAPP+ charges a $25 per approved plan or issued permit, and this SolarAPP+ cost is nonrefundable. If a contractor wishes to receive a refund from the AHJ for a cancelled permit, the contractor would work through the AHJ’s existing refund policy, as SolarAPP+ instantly delivers permit fees to the AHJ or otherwise does not collect those permitting fees.
  • Additional Fees related to licenses - SolarAPP+ verifies that the installer has a business license for the jurisdiction, but does not process the license. Rather, a contractor would receive the business license (and pay the licensing fees) via the AHJ's existing online system.
  • Additional Fees related to Main Panel Upgrades (MPUs) - MPUs will be added to SolarAPP+ in future updates. At this time, projects that entail a panel upgrade must go through the jurisdiction’s normal permitting process.
