How are historic districts or special zoning requirements addressed in SolarAPP+?

Historic districts or special zoning areas may have unique rules pertaining to the installation of rooftop mounted photovoltaics such that SolarAPP+ may be unable to approve a project.  A jurisdiction may restrict the location of arrays, equipment used, or visibility from streets and walkways among other requirements.  SolarAPP+'s software does not currently integrate with a municipality's zoning and planning requirements databases and will not prevent a contractor from entering a new project in a historic or special zoning district.

When a jurisdiction has these requirements, the contractor should not submit the project in SolarAPP+. Mitigation for failure to comply with the jurisdiction's process will be the burden of the contractor.

Check with the jurisdiction for special requirements in these areas before submitting through the software.
