Tesla Resources

The Manufacturer Resource Articles document the most common issues and difficulties when entering a particular manufacturer's equipment into SolarAPP+. If you see an issue that is not documented or needs improvement/ changes. Please reach out to [email protected]

Tesla Powerwall 3 expansion & Powershare Gateway units are not currently supported!!

Please take these Tesla projects directly to your AHJ. Our development team is currently working on a code and standard-compliant solution to add it to the permitting review within SolarAPP+ safely. At this time, we do not have an estimate on the software addition but we will be sure to announce it here Software Releases

ISC Amperage Inputs -

Note This is the Datasheet for the Tesla Solar Inverter below.

R559 Error on SolarAPP+

MODULE ISC(13.66) * 1..25 = 17.075 Exceeds limit of MPPT Input of Tesla Inverter.

SolarAPP compares the Isc at a high irradiance factor (125%) in accordance with  [NEC 690.8(A)(1)(a)(1) -> This is sometimes in the industry referred to as the "high irradiance factor".

Suggestions use smaller wattage module 415- 420 series.

13.58 * 1.25 = 16.975

You can use the bonding jumper to get up to 25 amps of Short Circuit ISC Current.

Notes: When Installing with Microinverters/AC Modules in an AC Coupled System.

Tesla enforces a PV to Powerwall ratio for determining if 3rd party PV sources can be included in the backup circuit. Each Powerwall unit in the backup circuit (Powerwall 2, Powerwall+, and Powerwall 3), can support 7.68 kW AC of 3rd party PV sources in the backup circuit, in addition to any PV DC sources that are wired to the Powerwall+/3 unit. Powerwall 3 paired with any number (1-3) of Powerwall 3 Expansion units have an increased ratio of 10 kW AC of 3rd party PV sources for that unit. If the PV sources are from the Tesla Solar Inverter, they are not factored into the PV to Powerwall ratio and can be added into the backup circuit.

Important Note About Tesla CT Installation.

For any Powerwall installation, it is required to provide whole-home “Site” monitoring. This includes monitoring all non-backup loads that might downstream of the utility meter.

It is also required to monitor all solar sources onsite, including any solar sources that are not located in the backup circuit.

Powerwall 3 is only compatible with the Tesla Remote Energy Meter. Powerwall 3 is not compatible with Neurio Remote Metering products.

Guidance on metering solutions can be found in the following resources.
